Registering Your Property
Almost 85% of land in England and Wales is registered, which is why the Government and the Land Registry are still actively encouraging landowners of unregistered land to get it registered.
Although registration of your land is not compulsory until your land is sold, given away or mortgaged, making a voluntary application brings many advantages, including:
- the Land Registry guaranteeing your title to your land and property
- preventing third parties from making claims against your land reducing the likelihood of a boundary or property dispute
- condensing the title to your property onto one single document and having it stored electronically at the Land Registry
- not having a physical set of deeds reduces the need for storing papers at home, with your bank or with your Solicitors and avoids the potential of you losing them.
